Miracle Miles
Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin is a place that means a great deal to my family. My brother Shawn underwent successful treatment for leukemia at Children’s in 2009. Since then, finding ways to support their work has been something I’ve enjoyed doing. In 2011, my friend Jacques Dresang and I created a charitable fundraising effort through our involvement with motorsports, which we called Miracle Miles. I created a logo and other graphics to help promote our fundraising efforts. The wings represent the work of the doctors, nurses and staff at Children’s who are angels to those they serve, the heart represents the strength of the patients and the helmet represents the racers whose donations go to support this great cause. I chose a style for the logo that felt light hearted and childlike and paired this with support graphics that included racing references to connect to our target audience. Through social media, at the track promotions, decals on racecars, and word of mouth with family and friends we were able to raise $11,465 over two years to support the work of Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. Every Mile Matters!
