LCMS Sheboygan County Hispanic Outreach
In 2016, the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod began an outreach ministry to the Hispanic community of Sheboygan County in Wisconsin. My hometown church, St. John Lutheran, was one of several churches to support the formation of this new ministry. I was asked to help serve this new ministry by creating their logo. At the center of the icon is the cross of Christ as he is the focus of our faith. Behind the cross is a rising sun, the bright start to a new day and ministry. This sun also symbolizes Christ as light of the world. Beneath the cross is land and water, representing Sheboygan Counties Lake Michigan shoreline. The name of the ministry would be shown in both English and Spanish and the typeface needed to support both languages. I chose Andes Condensed, created by type foundry Latinotype, thanks to its unique flair and flexibility. I was honored to be able to use my gifts to help launch this new ministry.
